Josh Butterfield - Director of Bands

In addition to being the Director of the Marching Band, Mr. Butterfield also teaches Jazz Ensemble 1, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Percussion and the Color Guard class. He received his Bachelor’s of Music Degree in Music Education from California State University Stanislaus. Prior to his appointment at Foothill High School, Josh served as the Director of Bands at Lodi High School and Palma High School where he produced successful Jazz and Concert Band Programs.
Josh is an active adjudicator with the Northern California Band Association and has worked with groups throughout Northern California. As an instructor and conductor, his groups have performed in Europe, Canada, Nevada, Florida, the Bahamas, Hawaii and Mexico in addition to appearances in the Citrus Bowl Parade, Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, Portland Rose Parade and about Carnival Cruise Lines.
As a performer, Mr. Butterfield has performed on stage with a number of wonderful musicians and performers including Thomas Lee, Eugene Corporon, Jack Stamp, Johan De Meij, Alan Vizzuti, Steve Wilson, Chuck Finley, Peter Erskin, Matt Finders, and Bruce Forman. |
Erik Nishimori - Orchestra, Jazz Band 2
Mr. Nishimori instructs our Jazz 2 Ensemble as well as the String Orchestra class. He received his Bachelor's Degree and teaching credential in Music Education from The University of the Pacific. Before joining the Foothill family he taught elementary and middle school instrumental music in Lodi Unified School District. During the early stages of his music career, Mr. Nishimori also instructed music and marching at Lodi High School from 2002-2009.
Erik has performed in the San Joaquin County, All Northern, and All State Honor Bands. He has also played in the All Northern Jazz Honor Band. While in college, Mr. Nishimori shared principle chair in the University of the Pacific Symphonic Wind Ensemble. As an instructor Mr. Nishimori has traveled to Florida, Southern California, Mexico, Nevada, and Hawaii. As a performer, Erik has played in Monterey, Fresno, Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Mammoth Lakes, Chiliwack British Columbia, and Sun Valley Idaho. |
